The camp was organized by the Centre for Disaster Management Studies, Department of Civil Engineering.
On this occasion, Prof. Azis mentioned that India is a least prepared country in disaster management. He suggested that NCC and NSS student volunteers be trained for this noble cause. Prof. Azis urged the Civil Engineering Department to start a regular diploma course in Disaster Management.
Earlier, Prof. VP Mittal, Convener of the Centre for Disaster Management Studies at AMU in his welcome address said that this is a great occasion when we all have gathered here for the inauguration of the awareness camp on Disaster Management.
Disasters like cyclones, earthquakes, floods, fire are natural phenomena for which the people to guard themselves. He said that under XI Plan, MHRD and UGC has sanctioned a disaster management centre to the Civil Engineering Department. He said this camp is organized for the benefit of common people through pamphlets, posters, models and such other design to protect themselves against natural disaster by adopting these techniques.
On this occasion, Prof. Razaullah Khan, Chairman, Department of Civil engineering, Prof. S. Mahdi Abbas Rizvi, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Ekram Husain, principal of the College also addressed the gathering.
Vice Chancellor also released a pamphlet in English, Hindi and Urdu for awareness of the common people. Dr. M. Mansoor Alam conducted the programme.
