Taj City Hosts 3-day National Women’s Sports Meet

Regional sports officer Ajai Kumar Sethi said arrangements for the stay of the sports persons, and the grounds had been made. A team of SAI officials led by Tej Kaul, is already here to oversee the conduct of the events. International coach Rustam Khan supervised the preparation of athletics tracks. The tennis courts and the badminton hall are ready, members of the organising committee told media persons Sunday evening. The meet would be declared open Monday morning by the state horticulture minister Narayan Singh.

Dr. Hari Om, sports director UP, visited all the sites and reviewed the level of preparedness two days ago, directing local officials to ensure that the teams did not face any problems during their stay in the Taj city.

Sports officials said this would be the biggest sporting event for women atheletes, with more than 600 contestants in different events expected to participate. "After the recent successes of our women atheletes in international events, this national meet has acquired a degree of importance," said sports writer Pramod Qadir.
