This is the second consecutive Conference in Condensed Matter Physics organized by Prof. Shafikuddin Mollah, convener of the conference. The Abstract Booklet of the Conference was also released by the Vice Chancellor along with other dignitaries present on dais. Prof. Azis congratulated the Convener and the Department of Physics for holding the conference.
The Chief Guest, Prof. RC Budhani, Director, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, delivered the Keynote Address on “The Quantum Works of Precision Measurements”.
He talked about the importance of precise measurement of time and length and said that the precise measurement of time is significant for satellite communication. He also discussed about the precise measurement of current, voltage and resistance.
The Guest of Honor, Prof. BN Dev, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata talked about the “Science at the Atomic Scale”. He was very happy to know about the architecture of the AMU and the materials available at the AMU Founder’s residence.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Prof. Wasi Haider, Chairman, Department of Physics, highlighted the achievements of the department.
Prof. Abha Lakshmi Singh, Dean, Faculty of Science, shed light on the importance of Condensed Matter Physics. She encouraged the organizers and suggested for the publication of the proceedings of the Conference in some reputed international journal.
The other distinguished speakers were Prof. Ajay Gupta, Director, UGC-DAE-CSR, Indore, Dr. R. Mukhopadhyay, senior Scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai and Prof. Mahavir Singh, Himachal Pradesh University, Simla.
Prof. Shafikuddin Mollah, Convener, thanked all the speakers, participants, and organizers. More than 100 participants from different parts of India have participated in the Conference.
