Only then we will be able to save this great river of India.
You are aware Yamuna is not just a river, but a living tradition that encompasses religious beliefs centering Sri Krishna-Radha worshipped by millions of devout. The best Mughal monuments are sited along its banks, from Taj Mahal to Red Fort and dozens of other structures of great historical significance. While Ganga is Mokshdayini, Yamuna is Jeevan Dayini whose waters continue to sustain life in a dozen cities along its banks.
Once Yamuna is declared as a heritage site, restrictions would follow automatically to control destruction of the flood-plains and check pollution from various sources.
It is therefore humbly requested that you examine this demand with all fairness and urgency that it deserves in the large interests of environmental conservation and heritage promotion.
Warm greetings
