{/googleAds} The Weather office has forecast more showers, even as light drizzle continued next evening.
The low-lying areas were flooded as usual. Due to the weekly holiday the Taj Mahal was closed to visitors, but police officials said they expected heavy rush of weekenders. "Ever since the Yamuna Expressway opened a month ago, the rush from Delhi and neighboring towns has suddenly increased creating traffic problems and parking hassles. Everyone wants to return in the evening," a traffic police official at the Yamuna Kinara road said.
Pot-holes and deadly gaps on the roads, even on the Agra-Delhi national highway, has made road journey hazardous, said activist Naresh Paras. "It is shocking that the local authorities were not showing enough concern to the woes of the tourists and vehicle users," Abhishek Mehrotra, frequent traveler to Delhi added.
Meanwhile, farmers in some areas expressed concern at water-logging that prevented farming operations. "Rains in Agra region have so far been fairly good, crossing the annual average of 650 mm. I think we have already got around 750mm," said Barauli Ahir block farmer Ravi Singh.
