Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has issued a clarification addressing media reports on delays in the delivery of LCA Mk1A fighter jets, confirming that five aircraft are fully ready for delivery, while nine additional aircraft have already been built and are awaiting engine deliveries from GE.
The nine tested aircraft would also be delivered in the next year, and slowly the deliveries would advance to 24 jets annually.
Management also stated that it is working closely with the Indian Air Force to complete final certifications, with avionics integration and electronic warfare systems being addressed as a priority.
The company reiterated that it remains on track to meet its guidance for the current financial year, despite ongoing system integration and certification processes.
According to market observers, HAL’s clarification reflects strong confidence in execution, with multiple aircraft already built, flown, and ready for delivery post sustained deliveries of engines from GE.
With significant orders in hand, an expanded production capacity, and active engagement with the Indian Air Force on certifications, HAL remains well-positioned to normalise deliveries as system integration milestones and regular deliveries of engines are cleared.
The reiteration of FY guidance suggests that the company’s longer-term growth trajectory in India’s fighter aircraft ecosystem remains intact. HAL currently has firm orders for 180 LCA Mk1A aircraft, backed by contracts worth over ₹1.1 lakh crore.
Remember, established in 1940, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is a leading Indian aerospace and defence company that designs, manufactures, and overhauls aircraft, helicopters, and related systems. HAL is a government-owned enterprise and a major Indian aerospace player that contributes to both military and civilian aviation.
