Consumer Price Index Numbers For Agricultural Labourers Remain Stationary


The rise fall in index varied from State to State. In case of Agricultural Labourers, it recorded an increase between two to nine points in 11 States and a decrease between one to nine points in eight States. The index however, remained stationary in one State.  Haryana with 843 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 623 points stood at the bottom.

In case of Rural Labourers, it recorded an increase between one to seven points in 12 States, and a decrease between one to eight points in eight States. Haryana with 836 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh State with the index level of 656 points stood at the bottom.

The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural and Rural Labourers in respect of Rajasthan State registered the maximum increase of nine points and seven points respectively mainly due to increase in the prices of wheat, bajra,  pulses, gingely oil, milk, ghee, vegetables & fruits, sugar, dhoti cotton mill, plastic shoes, anacin and toilet soap. The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural and Rural Labourers in respect of Andhra Pradesh State registered the maximum decrease of nine points and eight points respectively mainly due to decrease in the prices of rice, jowar, ragi, groundnut oil, onion, vegtable & fruits, sugar and firewood.

Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL decreased from 9.08% and 9.21% in January, 2014to 8.14% and 8.27% in February, 2014. Inflation based on food index of CPI-AL and CPI-RL are 6.85% and 6.99% respectively during February, 2014.
