In remote areas of the world, everyday items like batteries are luxuries. Health care workers in these areas frequently lack electricity to power diagnostic gadgets, and commercial batteries may be unavailable or too high priced. New power sources are needed which are low cost and transportable.

India Mobile Congress 2018 ended with participants and organisers promising to be back next year. This year’s event with the theme of ‘New Digital Horizons – Connect, Create, Innovate’ established the IMC as a regular platform for global and local stakeholders in the sector to collaborate in the cause of exploring opportunities and leveraging possibilities.

India will host the 24th edition of Technology Summit with Italy as the partner country. The 2-day summit will be inaugurated on 29th October by the Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan with Prof Michele Geraci, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Italy. Valedictory session of the summit will be addressed by the Prime Ministers of both the countries.

Union home ministry has called upon the representatives of Facebook, Google, Twitter, Whatsapp, YouTube and Instagram to review actions taken to prevent misuse of these sites by undesirable elements to spread rumours, causing unrest, incite cyber crimes especially against women and children and other activities detrimental to national interest.  

Indian telecom industry will roll out one million WiFi hotspots in the country by December 2019, which is another step towards the digital empowerment of the nation. Bharat Wi-Fi, a country-wide common inter-operable platform of one million Wi-Fi Hotspots, owned and operated by Telecom Service Providers, Internet Service Providers and Virtual Network Operators will be rolled out across the country.
