New Delhi: Railway Budget presented in Parliament proposed measures to make Indian Railways prime mover of Indian Economy once again. It seeks resource mobilization for higher investment, decongestion of heavy haul routes and speeding of trains and project delivery, better passenger amenities and safety, and to make railways a preferred mode of transport for masses. The dramatic plunge in the global crude oil price from a high of 111 dollars a barrel in June 2014 to its lowest level of 45 dollars on January 13 awhile, registering nearly 60 per cent tumble in a shot span of a few months was unprecedented in the more than half a century annals of the world’s much-feared commodity cartel, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). With global economic recovery not gaining substantial momentum across the continents to ensure higher energy consumption even at reduced growth prospects, no one is sure as to how far the crude oil price will go down or how long it will take to balance demand-supply mismatch so that prices can regain lost or losing ground.

As the deadline for enlisting operators for intra-state airline services in Uttar Pradesh (UP) ended recently, three airline companies have approached the State Tourism Department with interest to commence operations as per guidelines of the new Intra-state Aviation Policy announced by the government. The State Tourism Department has identified 12 routes to be covered through intra-state air operations.

New Delhi: The annual rate of inflation stood at  -0.39% for the month of January, 2015 (over January, 2014) as compared to 0.11% for the previous month and 5.11% during the corresponding month of the previous year. Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was -1.11% compared to a build up rate of 5.23% in the corresponding period of the previous year.
