Agra Metro: Priority Corridor's First 'Pile Cap' Constructed


The civil construction work of the Agra Metro Rail project is being executed at a rapid pace by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation.
The construction of the first Pile Cap has been completed under the Elevated Section of the Priority Corridor which is being built between Taj East Gate and Fatehabad Road. In this section, a total of 171 Pile Caps will be constructed. 
It is also to be mentioned that a Pile Cap is prepared by consisting of several Piles and then Pillars are constructed on them so that the Metro structure can be strengthened and its carrying capacity can be increased. The first Pile Cap has been prepared by affixing of five Piles.
A total of 58 Piles has been completed by the Team of UP Metro while a total of 680 Piles have to be constructed in the Priority Corridor. Currently, there are four Rig Machines that have been deployed at the construction sites and another Rig Machine is going to come soon so that the Construction Work can be speeded up.
Kumar Keshav, MD, UPMRC said, ‘Metro construction work in Agra is progressing at a good pace. The Metro team is constantly striving to raise resources and deploy them. The Fourth Rig Machine has arrived and will be used soon.’
Under the Agra Metro Project, two corridors will be constructed. The first corridor will be built between Sikandra to Taj East Gate and the second corridor from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar. Under the first corridor, a section of about six km between Taj East Gate to Jama Masjid has been identified.
