Against the backdrop of Taj Mahal in Nagla Prema, Laiq Khan with his associates began his musical session. The villagers laughed and so did the urbanites. The sky was clear blue and the heat was scorching. Laiq began his musical raagas in full earnest, promising the crowd of cynical patrons, he would not buzz till the rains came.
It didn't take long. Only a few hours of singing the classical raagaas sent the desperate message to the Lord of the Rains and he obliged with a heavy downpour late in the afternoon. Laiq became a hero within minutes.
Talking to Agratoday.in later, Laiq Khan said the Indian classical music focused on purity of emotions and sadhna, had the power to move mountains. "Only the number of sincere devotees was declining."
