Joshi recalled the glorious history of the Agra University, one of the oldest in northern India, founded in 1927. With more than 400 affiliated institutions and four lakh students enrolled, the university was playing a significant role, he added.

 Justice Markandeya Katju in his convocation speech said the economically poor had no voice. Katju said science and technology should be used in a big way to speed up development and growth.

The Governor also inaugurated the university's FM radio station "Agra ki Awaaz."
