A Russian advance team of security personnel has been camping here for past two days to oversee security arrangements.
Though the details of the programme have yet to be finalised, it is learnt that the visiting dignitary will land at Kheria airport around 10am and return after two hours.
The advance team has procured its own vehicles from Russia. Team members had discussions with district authorities and inspected the route from Kheria airport to the Taj Mahal.
Braj Mandal Heritage Conservation Society president Surendra Sharma told Agratoday.in, "since the Archaeological Survey of India has not yet announced its plan to close the Taj for general public Wednesday morning, there could be another round of confusion at the Taj as happened during French President Sarkozy's visit at the gates, with hundreds of visitors deprived the opportunity to see the Taj, despite holding valid tickets. The holiday season has started and already there is so much pressure on the monuments."
Unconfirmed reports said a VVIP from Kenya was also scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal.
Many people are surprised in Agra at the lack of hype and media attention at the Russian president's visit. "This probably is indicative of the limited role and the declining clout of a former super power over world affairs," commented educationist Dr. BB Barik.
