RLD Supports Agitating Farmers In UP


Chaudhary Ajit Singh of RLD was stopped be the UP police onroute to Bhatta Parsol and arrested under section 151 of the Indian Penal Code along with party MPs Jayant Chaudhary, Devendar Nagpal and Sarika Baghel and supporters.

Speaking on the issue, Chaudhary Ajit Singh demanded the Central Government establish an enquiry commission to look into the faulty land acquisition policy of the State Government.

Chaudhary Ajit Singh lambasted the UP police for using harsh methods and resorting to firing at farmers who have legitimate demands of compensation at market rates for land that has been acquired for the 160 km Yamuna Expressway and related projects.

The RLD has also raised the demand for parliament enacting a new law on land acquisition on several national forums including the recent gherao at Jjantar Mantar in Delhi.
