AMU is having the largest number of such scholars in the country for the year 2011. The UGC empowered Committee on Basic Scientific Research approved Prof. Kabiruddin and Prof. Ashfaq Nabi of the Chemistry Department, Prof. Abha Laxmi Singh and Prof. Ali Mohammad of the Geography Department and Prof. M. Saleemuddin of the Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit.
The UGC Committee further approved the list of UGC BSR Faculty Fellowship who have minimum one year and maximum of two years service and the Faculty Fellowship is effective from their respective superannuation date.
These recipients may also avail honorarium of the BSR Faculty Fellowship. They are allowed to admit PhD scholars as per the rules and regulations of the fellowship.
The Aligarh Muslim University has appointed Professor NR Madhava Menon, father of modern Indian legal education as Scholar-in-Residence in the Department of Law.
Prof. Menon was the first PhD produced by the Department of Law at AMU.
