In the memorandum submitted to the president the delegation members described the alarming pollution level in the river Yamuna which was not even fit for taking "achmans" by the devouts. From Tajewala to Agra the river Yamuna was almost dead with pollutants, the memorandum said.
Braj Life Line convener told media persons in Mathura that the President was distressed and expressed her concern, after listening to the pain and anguish of the Vaishanavites from Maharashtra.
The meeting was arranged by her husband Devi Singh Patil who is a trustee of the Pushtiyamargiya temple of the Vaishanavites in Amravati.
Meanwhile, the long march by saints, ascetics and Yamuna Bhakts of Braj Mandal which started from Sangam in Allahabad on March 2, reached Kausambi. The marchers fanned out in the rural areas to mass contact and solicit support for the Save Yamuna movement.
The chief inspiration and menteor of the movement Ramesh Baba who has vowed not to move out of the Braj mandal, has sent his wooden shoes (khadaun) to represent him.
In towns along the river Yamuna, excitement is building up and the volunteers are busy mobilising support for the padayatris who will end their march in Delhi mid-April.
