More Than Two Percent Growth In Core Industries Index


The combined Index of Eight Core Industries stands at 175.4 in March, 2014  which was 2.5 % higher compared to the index of March, 2013. Its cumulative growth during April-March, 2013-14 was 2.6 %. (Read In Hindi:मुख्‍य उद्योग सूचकांक में ढाई फीसदी की बढ़ोतरी)

Coal

Coal production (4.38 %) increased by 0.7 % in March, 2014 over March, 2013. Its cumulative index during April to March, 2013-14 increased by 0.8 % over corresponding period of previous year.

Crude Oil

Crude Oil production (5.22 %) declined by 1.6 % in March, 2014 over March, 2013. The cumulative index of Crude Oil during April to March, 2013-14 declined by 0.2 % over the corresponding period of previous year.

Natural Gas

The Natural Gas production (1.71 %) declined by 9.3 % in March, 2014 over March, 2013. Its cumulative index during April to March, 2013-14 declined by 13.0 % over the corresponding period of previous year.

Petroleum Refinery Products (0.93% of Crude Throughput)[1]

Petroleum refinery production (5.94%) registered a growth of 2.8 % in March, 2014 over March, 2013 and its cumulative index during April to March, 2013-14 increased by 1.7 % over the corresponding period of previous year.

Fertilizers

Fertilizer production (1.25%) declined by 6.1 % in March, 2014 over March, 2013. However, it registered a cumulative growth of 1.5 % during April to March, 2013-14 over the corresponding period of previous year.

Steel (Alloy + Non-Alloy)

Steel production (6.68%) recorded a growth of 5.4 % in March, 2014 over March, 2013. The cumulative growth during April to March, 2013-14 was 4.3 % over the corresponding period of previous year.

Cement

Cement production (2.41%) remains same in March, 2014 as of March, 2013 while its cumulative growth during April to March, 2013-14 was 3.0 % over the corresponding period of previous year.

Electricity

Electricity generation (10.32%) increased by 5.4 % in March, 2014 over the period of March, 2013 and it registered a cumulative growth of 5.6 % during April to March, 2013-14 over the corresponding period of previous year.
