For far too long we have been obsessed with focusing on negative features of the city, the civic problems: Bijli, Paani, Sadak, the heaps of dirt and squalor, the poor traffic sense etc. Which city in India does not suffer from these negative traits.
What we have forgotten is the fact that Agra citizens are inheritors of great culture, wonderful monuments, faith. Agra has seen a glorious tradition of scholarship as a hub of education, medical sciences, justice and so many other things.
It is high time the people of Agra felt a sense of pride and promoted the feeling of belonging-ness.
They must love the positive features of the city. Only then will the process of change accelerate.
Let us join hands and create a better Agra. More importantly let us feel we are proud inheritors of a great legacy. The city of Ghalib, Mir, Nazeer Akbarabadi, Soor Das and a long line of literary luminaries, must find its rightful place and be recognized as ‘INDIA KA TAJ HAI AGRA’.
The campaign launched on Saturday. We hope to organize various activities every month to highlight the positive features of Agra.
Please join us in our endeavor and be a part of the process of change.
