{/googleAds} Half a dozen colonies which were illegally coming up in Vrindavan on the Chatikara road, have been asked to adhere to plans and seek clearances from concerned departments before resuming constrution. Two weeks ago divisional commissioner Pradeep Bhatnagar had ordered action against such colonisers who violated the norms and promoted sale of plots without obtaining no objection certificates from appropriate authorities.

Talking to Samiksha Bharti News Service, MVDA vice chairman Nagendra Pratap Singh said "128 notices have been issued. The builders have to clear the External Development Charges dues (EDC). The colonisers had gone to the Allahabad High Court and sought stay arguing the state government did not have well defined guidelines and norms. Now the state government has drawn up the required framework of norms. So the notices have been sent out for collection of the dues relating to EDC."

Singh said the MVDA was particularly concerned about regulating haphazard construction in Vrindavan. "The ambience of the holy town had to be preserved. We have initiated a series of measures in this direction."

MVDA officials demolished several structures in illegal colonies on the Chatikara road.

Boundary walls of several plots were demolished. This invited the wrath of BSP leader Pushpa Sharma, a former chairperson of the Vrindavan municipal body, who vehemently protested and called MVDA's action unwarranted and without legal basis.

The MVDA secretary SB Singh led a team of engineers to stop construction work in a number of colonies which were misusing section 143. Singh said land use can not be changed under any circumstances. The colonisers were only fooling the people.

The action followed district magistrate Rajesh Kumar's directive to the MVDA to halt illegal construction in the prime location along Chatikara road where ISKCON is building world's tallest Sri Krishna temple.

Environmentalists have objected to a spate of illegal constructions and colonies without permission coming up in the area. They feared that the pristine ambience of Vrindavan was under threat.
