Gang Busted, Runs Admission Business In Universities


 

During completion of admission for B.Tech course at AMU’s Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, one Ranjeet Kumar of Kanpur was apprehended who later confessed to work for a Kanpur based coaching centre with a monthly salary of Rs.10,000.

A rate list for admission to various prestigious educational institutions of the country was found in Ranjeet Kumar’s possession where the gang used to plant fake candidates in admission tests for professional courses. Three cell phones, four sim cards, fake currency of one hundred rupees’ note, a PAN card, an ATM card, a cheque of Rs.40,000, photographs of 14 youths, mark sheet and certificate of three students and a cash of more than one thousand rupees was found in his possession.

 

During interrogation, Ranjeet Kumar told that he was staying at a local hotel along with an accomplice under the fake ID, Vivekanand Chaubey. Accordng to Ranjeet, the head of the gang is Rohit who runs a racket for admissions in disguise of a coaching centre in Kanpur. The rate list found in his possession shows that the group charged a sum of four to six lakh rupees from a candidate willing to get admission in IITs.

 

In order to maintain complete transparency in its admission system, the Aligarh Muslim University had already constituted a ten member committee to minutely scrutinize and supervise the admission procedure for various courses.

Ranjeet Kumar, on finding his activities dubious and unlawful, was handed over to the Proctor where he confessed his crime. On the basis of the important documents recovered from him, he was handed over to the police at Civil Lines Police Station last night. Police has lodged an FIR and is investigating the matter in detail.
