Prof. Zulfia Khan, Coordinator, Polio Project of AMU welcomed the chief guest Dr. Khattar. She briefed the role of AMU in Polio Eradication Programme and highlighted the problems faced by staff and patients at two UNICEF health clinics at Jeevangarh and Mahfooz Nagar, run by the Department of Community Medicine.
Dr. M. Athar Ansari, Chairman Department of Community Medicine presented the details of various projects and schemes running in the department. He emphasized the role of the department in reducing the community resistance in polio programme and improving the Vit. A coverage not only in Aligarh but also in Lakhimpur and Sitapur districts.
Dr. Sakeena Mushfiq presented an overview of the polio project and its achievements especially the routine immunization coverage in under five children.
Dr. Khattar appreciated the efforts of the department and polio partners and assured maximum possible support to sustain the ongoing activities at two health clinics and in other National Health Programmes under NRHM. Prof. MM Ashhar, Coordinator, NSS, Dr. M. Tahir, Department of Sociology and Social Work and Coordinator Social Mobilization by MSW students, Shafiq Ahmad, DUC, UNICEF, Dr. AR Siddiqui, Dr. Anees Ahmad, Tauseef Ahmad and Mohsin were present during the programme.
