Talking to Agratoday.in Maheshwari said he wanted people to know that medicines were available in homeopathy which could not only cure but contain the spread of dengue.

 Why spend `25,000 and more when `25 would be just enough for buying homeopathic medicines," he said.

 "Even if one did not have absolute faith in homeopathy, there was no harm in taking these medicines as preventives or as supplementary to ward of the side effects and speed up recovery."

 "I am not asking anyone to discontinue allopathic drugs which are necessary to control high fever and fight the virus. But homeopathic drugs will prevent the severity and will not let the platelet count fall drastically. We focus on maintaining and stabilizing the immunity level in the patients," he said.

 "In cases of Dengue fever/mixed variety of fever occurring these days, a patient taking allopathic medicines with homoeopathic drugs usually do not have drastic fall in platelets in 80% of cases and thus the need for hospitalization is reduced to 20%  in all such cases. Treatment should however be taken under strict supervision of experienced homoeopaths. Some medicines which can help are PSORINUM200 [single dose] and Pulsatilla30.

Some more old and beneficial medicines are ARS ALB 30, GELS 30 and CHINA30.

Though these are regular medicines but not indicated regularly for Dengue, as the fever is only verifiable from lab reports not from old symptoms of [severe pain, fever and rash] because it is of mixed variety with malarial and flu symptoms also.

Additional to this, decoction of TULSI and black pepper is helping to reduce and control the spread of the disease," Dr. Maheshwari said.
