CME On ‘Prevention Of Violence In Health Care Facility’ Organized In AMU


 

 Prof. Ashraf Malik, Principal and CMS, JNMC highlighted the present status of health care system in JNMC and assured full cooperation on behalf of hospital administration in efforts for safeguarding rights of patience, hence prevent violence. He however said that there were limitations that posed great hurdfle to development works.

 

 Prof. S. Abrar Hasan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and the RDA President, Dr. Faroze Ahmad briefly highlighted the aims and objectives of the conference. Dr. Faroze said that the main objective behind organizing this CME is to minimize the hospital violence and improve the patient management and care.

 

 Prof. Rana Sherwani, Department of Pathology stressed on the importance of good communication. Dr. Aftab Alam, Department of Political Science focused on the legal rights of the patient while legal rights of doctors were discussed by Dr. Sadia Saeed of Department of Forensic Medicine.

 

 The Casualty Medical Officer, Dr. Naseem Alam presented a lecture on controlling emergency situations in casualty and how to improve the present scenario. The role of senior consultants was discussed by Prof. MKA Sherwani, Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery while Dr. Zehra Mohsin, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology highlighted the role of Para clinical staff in the prevention of hospital violence.

 

A panel discussion was also held to discuss issues related to different perspectives of patient care.

 

The panel, moderated by Prof. Tabassum Shahab, Department of Paediatrics, comprised Prof Imran Ghani, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Prof. Abu Sufyan Zilli, Chairman, Department of Psychology, Dr. Abu Qamar, Chairman, Department of Psychaitry, Prof. HS Khan, Chairman, Department of Medicine, Dr. SS Ahmad and Dr. Tamkeen Rabbani and other senior Doctors from the medical college.

 

Dr. Salman Shah conducted the programme.

 

Various other issues like lack of funds and resources were also discussed in the seminar. The seminar marked a new beginning in JNMC by starting a trend for the welfare of patients in government hospitals and finding out ways to improve the present condition.
