Over 108 exhibitors of silk and blended silk products manufactured from different parts of the country will display their products during the 3-day event, organized by the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

New Delhi: There has been a marked improvement in the number of Income Tax Returns filed during FY 2018 compared to the corresponding period in the preceding year. The total number of ITRs e-filed up to August 31 was 5.42 crore as against 3.17 crore up to August 31, 2017, marking an increase of 70.86%.

Addressing the distinguished gathering Union Minister Arun Jaitley recalled the pre-GST taxation system in India was one of the most complicated tax systems in the world. Multiple taxes, multiple returns to be filed by assesees, interface with multiple tax authorities, cascading effect of taxes, rising inflation, no free flow of goods across the country, fragmented markets across the country, inter alia, were some of the tenuous issues plaguing the indirect taxation system in India. GST has persuaded people to do businesses in a transparent manner without evading taxes, Jaitley added.
