Anna movement's fall-out and LK Advani's comment on his blog overshadowed the proceedings at the "Chintan Baithak" which focused on strategies to win maximum Lok Sabha seats from UP.
Gadkari said the country even after so many years of freedom was still plagued with poverty, starvation, and all kinds of socioeconomic problems. "Bijli, paani, sadak-related problems continue to be areas of concern," he said.
Kalraj Mishra and some others advised Bihar chief minister Nitish not to cross the limits and observe the norms of coalition, while Uma Bharti targeted the Akhilesh Yadav government in UP.
Agra MP Ram Shankar Katheria told Agratoday.in, ‘We spent two days discussing various plans and strategies to perform much better in UP whenever Lok Sabha polls are held.’
Talking to Agratoday.in, BJP state president Laxmi Kant Vajpayee said: ‘The two-day conclave focused on Uttar Pradesh. We reviewed the membership drive currently in process. We will now have organizational elections all over UP and then will go head-long into a confrontationist mode to fight against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. We want immediate relief to victims of flood and drought in various parts of the state. The party is all set for mobilizing people through agitations and confrontations and prepare the ground for elections.’
Vajpayee said after the party's good showing in the local bodies elections in UP, the workers are upbeat and encouraged.
"This is a very positive development and the Agra conclave has come as a shot in the arm boosting the morale of the workers. It was very well attended with all the top leaders of the party interacting with key functionaries in the state."
