District magistrate Amrit Abhijat said the bus service will pick up tourists from hotels and take them around local tourist spots. Another service will take them to Fatehpur Sikri. Amrit said, ‘arrangement was being made to provide lunch with the ticket.’
The city will soon have 200 Marco Polo buses being procured under the JNNURM. Of the 105 made available to the UP state Roadways already 50 odd buses are plying in the city bringing relief to the harassed commuters.
Efforts are also on the instal meters on auto rikshaws, which most Agraites feel are a big nuisance.
The Agra district magistrate said the special tourist buses, four in number, will reduce hassles and make it convenient for the budget tourists to see not just the Taj but also other historical monuments in the city.
Amrit Abhijat said that all the hotels in the city have been asked to comply with the registration formalities within a week. Under the Sarai Act, the hotels have to register with the local administration.
