"I am delighted and very happy. This award is not for me but for my work," Vyarawala told.
Saying the award was a blessing of God, Vyarawala recalled her early years when she began her career in Mumbai when she was hired by the British Information Service.
"After sometime, me and my husband shifted to Delhi which gave me an opportunity to witness the Independence struggle and be part of history," she said. She also remembered the incident when country's first Prime Minister had recognized her when he was in Agra for some function. Vyarawala was at that time in Agra to meet her son who studied there. She also had an advize for young photo-journalists that they should be honest to their professions.
