Values are falling in society, and shamelessness is increasing...

The recent verbal clash between Donald Trump and Zelensky at the White House sparked a familiar refrain, "The powerful are never blamed". This notion rings painfully true in today's climate. Zelensky appeared like a lost soul, caught in a seemingly indifferent exchange, while Trump, like a crafty monkey, masqueraded as a mediator between two feuding cats but ultimately emerged with all the spoils. Such scenes are not confined to America; globally, literature, culture, diplomacy, and basic etiquette are being disregarded.

India reflects this concerning trend as well. At a political rally, one leader made shockingly crude comments about a rival's personal life, leaving the audience in discomfort. What once were civil TV debates have devolved into chaotic shouting matches and even physical confrontations, eroding any sense of constructive dialogue and leaving viewers disillusioned. Our public spaces have tragically become battlegrounds for vitriolic exchanges, where civility is a casualty in this new era of shamelessness.

Public spaces often witness verbal wars between boys and girls, and those with differing opinions on social media are routinely humiliated. Earlier, women would playfully exchange insults at weddings, but today, in the name of gender equality, even female students are not far behind, armed with a rich vocabulary of spicy slurs.

The older generation laments that the boundaries of decency and etiquette in modern society are rapidly blurring. The term ‘indecency’, once symbolic of shamelessness, has now become a serious concern. This competition, where everyone is racing to outdo each other, is not just about materialism but also raises profound questions about our social, political, and moral values.

Politics, which once guided society, has now turned into an arena of indecency. Leaders and public figures, setting aside their dignity, are busy demeaning each other through words and actions. Recently, during a political debate, a leader launched such personal attacks on another that their personal vendetta overshadowed their political agenda. On the international stage, too, diplomacy is often reduced to a mockery, with a glaring lack of seriousness and sincerity.

The media, considered the mirror of society, has also joined this race of indecency. TV channels, instead of reporting news, have turned into spectacles. Debates are filled with chaos, shouting, and personal attacks. The dignity of language has been lost.

Respect in relationships has also completely vanished. The bond between leaders and officials is no longer limited to their roles. Today, officials are seen scolding their leaders instead of respecting them. This anarchy is visible not only in government offices but also on the streets.

Even saints and spiritual leaders are not untouched by this indecency. Symbols of spirituality are now indulging in shameless talk, as if they have no concern for it. Their etiquette and protocols hold no significance anymore.

Thus, today's society has transformed into a ‘shameless society’ where morality, values, and dignity have no place. Everything revolves around personal interests and showmanship. Whether it's politics, media, or society, a new definition of indecency is being crafted everywhere.

It is crucial to understand that this race of indecency not only affects our identity but also sets a wrong example for future generations. We must strive to confront and eliminate this trend. Promoting moral education, making the media accountable, and ensuring that every section of society adheres to decorum and etiquette are essential steps. Only then can we move towards a healthy and cultured society.
