Publisher's Employee Prime Accused In B.Ed Paper Leak: Police

"Sonu Verma was working in the packing department of an Agra publishing house. He stole a question paper, hid it in the toilet and when the consignment was being dispatched, he walked out with the paper from the press," a police officer said.

"More than 500 copies of the paper and some money have been recovered from the four accused who were arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad district," the officer added.

The officer said the role of the publisher was under investigation.

According to the police, the four men, all residents of Farrukhabad, were arrested Tuesday night from a photo-stat shop, where they were caught photocopying the question paper.

"We have arrested four people with several copies of the computerized question paper. Several other people have also been detained," Additional Superintendent of Police AK Jain told reporters in Farrukhabad.

The test will now take place June 19. "The decision to conduct the exam has been taken in consultation with the state's higher education officials," said GP Tripathi, registrar of the Lucknow University (LU) that has to conduct the exam.

The university was scheduled to conduct the test for around 100,000 seats in different universities and colleges of the state May 5. Around 700,000 students were to appear in the exam.
