For months together Petha sale is banned, giving rise to unauthorized network of vendors selling spurious Petha at exorbitant prices.
In another development, a plan to extend the Taj Express to Khajuraho is being considered by the North Central railways.
This was indicated by the NCR general manager Harish Chandra Joshi who told reporters that a proposal had been received at the zonal consultative committee meeting.
Joshi said the Weekly Sampark Kranti will now run six days a week to Khajuraho via Agra. The Lalitpur-Khajuraho track laying would be completed by 2012 end, he said.
A new `40 crore multi-functional complex will soon come up at Agra Cantt railway station, in partnership with UP Tourism. The complex will include a three-star hotel, a big commercial market for tourists, a 24 hour restaurant, travel agencies counters, cyber cafes, gaming zones, snooker, music and film centres in addition to food stalls, Joshi said.
