Newly Constructed Labs, Classrooms Inaugurated In AMU


He also inaugurated four classrooms and four cubicles for the teaching staff at the Department of Physical Health and Sports Education. The project was completed within nine months by the Building Department of the University under XI Plan grant of `39 lacs.

Addressing the function at the Department of Botany, Prof. Azis said that the Department has produced brilliant scientists and one of its alumnus, Dr. Masood Akhtar is the top energy expert in the United States. He has submitted a plan for an Indo-US Energy Centre at AMU. Prof. Azis said that he is interested to convert all classrooms into digital ones with internet facility to provide ideal environment to create a focus on research.

Earlier, Prof. Md. Anis, in his welcome address, thanked the Vice Chancellor who has made the whole campus disciplined and eco-friendly raising the overall academic and research environment in the University. His efforts towards academic rejuvenation will go a long way in accelerating the pace of research in the University. He said that the Department of Botany was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest departments of the Faculty of Life Sciences, imparting Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D. courses.

 

Prof. Arif Inam, Chairman of the Department proposed a vote of thanks. Prof. Akhtar Haseeb, OSD (Development) said that the University has received a substantial amount of `75 lakh during XI Plan period towards renovation of existing building and construction of new labs etc.

In the Department of Physical Health and Sports Education, Prof. Jaowad Ali said that the Department will start M.P.Ed. Course very soon and we are planning to create a new Faculty of Education consisting of three departments Department of Education, Department of Physical Health and Sports Education and the Centre for Distance Education.

Earlier, Prof. Ikram Husain, Chairman of the Department welcomed the guests. Prof. Anwar Jahan Zuberi, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences also graced the occasion.
