The first batch of 100 school students for EAMP was allocated to UGC Academic Staff College in 2007, and another 200 students’ batch started in 2009.
The US embassy has sponsored a third program for 200 students for which students within the age group of 14-18 years, have been selected from the various AMU schools. The program is going to end in July 2011.
The certificate ceremony marked the arrival of new batch of student as they were accorded a welcome and were given certificates as a token of becoming a part of the Access family.
While welcoming the guests, Professor AR Kidwai, Director, UGC Academic Staff College felicitates them with bouquets and souvenirs. Elizabeth Thornhill, US Embassy, Joelle Uzarski, Director, Regional English Language Office, US Embassy and AMU Registrar, Professor VK Abdul Jalil and Rachna Sharma Access Program Coordinator were present in the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Joelle Uzarski stressed the importance of communication skills for the access students and urged the students to be committed to the program.
AMU Registrar, Professor VK Abdul Jalil made a special mention of the efforts made by UGC Academic Staff college in putting the program on the Global Access map. He also appreciated the significant role played by the teachers in making the program a grand success.
The participating students, Zulnoon Khairoowala, Nida Akram, Alia and Kashif Beg aired their expectations from the program. An old student of the 1st Access Programme, Ghazi, who was sponsored by the American Embassy to visit the US for 21 days, related his experiences during his US visit and training.
Dr. Rashid Nehal proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Amirullah Khan, Coordinator of the Access Program, conducted the certificate ceremony function.
