Center had notified a Taj Trapezium Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority in the year 1999 to monitor progress of implementation of various schemes for protection of the Taj Mahal and programmes for protection and improvement of the environment in the above said area.

During the IX Five Year Plan, an amount of `222.21 crore was sanctioned towards the following 10 projects on the basis of 50:50 cost sharing with the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Environment and Forests (independent) Jayanthi Natarajan in a written reply to a question by Meena Singh in Lok Sabha.
