The media outfits too took the credit for mobilization of the masses. Local TV channels organized panel discussions. "With each section trying to take mileage from the brief but intense four day exercise, the fear is that this may inculcate complacency and over confidence," said social activist Sudhir Gupta.
The need is to be vigilant and consolidate the gains of this euphoric victory, said green activist Ravi Singh.
Harsh Gupta, IT professional said "the newest input in this mass upsurge was the role of communication technologies. In future governments will need to be extra careful as any bit of information or news can take wings outside the formal framework of conventional media."
Anil Sharma, president of Agra Press Club told Agratoday.in, "the media played a crucial role in the mass mobilization. The positives are many but the groundswell needs to be properly channelised for bigger objectives so that the gains are not frittered away."
"The pre-emergency days, when JP was leading the mass movement came alive," said activist Shravan Kumar Singh, who wanted continuous interaction and mobilization by non-political groups so that the fire lit is not extinguished.
The most interesting part was the participation of the youth. School children also joined the movement, said Hari Dutt Sharma, editor of School Prangan weekly.
