Around 1000 Inmates were informed about the various aspects of AIDS and its prevention. This was done by short documentaries, Charts, Posters and Pamphlets etc.
The District Jail officials provided full support throughout the awareness programme. Prof. Abida Malik gave a lecture on the importance of HIV AIDS in close communities.
Separate counters for general health checkup, counseling and voluntary blood testing for HIV were arranged. 252 jail Inmates were counseled and 168 blood samples were collected. Dr. Mahwash Haider, Dr. Parwez Ahmad, Dr. Sana Jamali, Rahul Shram, Dr. Abdul Malik, Masoor Alam, Firdous and other technical staff from the Department of Microbiology worked hard to make the programme successful. Dr. Athar Ansari, Chairman, Dept. of Community Medicine and his team of Residents and Interns also helped during the camp.
The Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. S. Abrar Hasan and the Principal, JNMC, Prof. Ashraf Malik visited the camp site and appreciated the unique efforts done by the ICTC.
