Agra Residents Laud Surdas On His Birthday

Mayor Anjula Singh Mahaur garlanded the statue of the poet at the Soor Sadan auditorium in the Municipal Corporation campus.

At Soor Kuti along the river Yamuna where Surdas met Ballabhacharya of the Vaishnavite sect, a special programme of recital of his poems (Padavali) was held, presided over by educationist Ram Avtar Sharma.

The Surdas Memorial at the Keitham Lake on Delhi-Agra road has a library and a school for the blind. The picturesque memorial in the heart of a dense green forest along the river is a tourist spot.
